Top Resort for Families Apulai Gattarella Ultimate Family Hotel

What makes it stand out?

What makes it stand out?

What makes it stand out?

  • Theo the resident alpaca: A live alpaca mascot leads children's adventures four times a week, and the hotel's own farm runs alpaca trekking alongside pony rides

  • Sleep-in tree house: The woodland adventure park has a tree house families can actually book for the night, which very few hotels can offer a child

  • Speed-timed tube slide: The illuminated 45 meter slide clocks every run, turning pool time into a daily competition the kids organize themselves

  • Maria and Loft suites: Two unusually large layouts, one sleeping 2 adults and 6 children across four rooms, the other 4 adults and 4 children with a private whirlpool and Finnish sauna

About Familienhotel Huber

About Familienhotel Huber

Vals (Valles) sits at 1,350 meters, a quiet sun-facing village at the gateway to the Pustertal valley, and Familienhotel Huber has been part of it for six generations. What began as a farmhouse inn has become one of the most decorated family hotels in Italy, taking a top-30-in-Europe placing in the kinderhotel.info Award 2026, yet it stays deliberately small at 42 families, with the Stolz family visibly running the floor. Accommodation scales with the family rather than forcing everyone into one format. Compact doubles suit a party of three, mid-size family rooms such as Akelei add a separate children's bedroom, and the suites go considerably further: Maria is a four-room layout for two adults and up to six children with two bathrooms, while the 115 square meter Family Suite Loft holds three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a heated whirlpool on the balcony, and a private Finnish sauna. The 1,500 square meter water world is the daily center of gravity, with a panoramic indoor pool at 32 degrees, a heated outdoor infinity pool open year round, a 34 degree children's pool with splash animals, and an illuminated 45 meter tube slide with speed timing.

Childcare is the reason parents rebook. Care for babies and toddlers up to 36 months runs seven days a week, and the Happy Club takes children from age three for around 70 hours a week, with nature-trained staff who work outdoors as much as in. The rhythm of the day is built for young families: a supervised children's table at 18.00 with the childcare team, a kids' buffet before the adults' five-course menu at 18.30, and a HiPP organic buffet available all day. Rooms come with blackout curtains, an integrated baby phone system, bottle warmers, and TÜV Nord safety certification, so very little needs packing. Away from the pool, the farm a kilometer up the road brings ponies, alpacas, goats, and hay to jump in, and the woodland adventure park adds climbing towers, a flying fox, and a tree house you can book for the night. Winter is simpler still, with ski-in, ski-out access to Gitschberg Jochtal and a ski instructor who collects children straight from the hotel.
