Forte Village is less a hotel than a small private town on the southern coast of Sardinia, spread across 116 acres of pine grove and tropical garden behind a long white sand beach at Santa Margherita di Pula, about 45 minutes from Cagliari. It is one of the largest and most complete family resorts in Italy, and the structure is unusual: ten accommodation collections sit inside one gated estate, from the four-star family bungalows of Bouganville, Le Palme, and Il Borgo through the five-star Pineta, Il Castello, Le Dune, and Villa del Parco, up to the Waterfront Suites on the sand and 13 private villas with their own gardens and pools. One booking gives you the run of the whole place: every guest shares the same private beach, the Acquapark, the Children's Wonderland, the sports academies, and most of the 21 restaurants. What changes between hotels is where you sleep, which pool is on your doorstep, and which restaurant serves your dinner.
The reason families come back year after year is the sheer density of things for kids to do that are actually run properly. Childcare starts from birth at the nursery, with a baby club for the youngest guests, a kids club at Mario's Village inside the Children's Wonderland, and a separate teen club program at Leisureland. The sports academies are coached to a real standard, including a Real Madrid football academy, a working go-kart track with its own driving academy, tennis, rugby, and swimming, and the new Nature Park adds more than 100 animal species, an immersive aviary, and an educational farm. Parents get the Acquaforte Thalasso Spa, a Michelin-decorated dining lineup, and Piazza Luisa in the evening with its bars, shops, and the open-air Forte Arena. It is a big resort and it feels like one, so it suits families who want a full program on tap rather than a quiet boutique hideaway.
