Overwater Tapasake restaurant: Pan-Asian fusion dining on stilts above the lagoon, a one-of-a-kind setting not replicated at any other family resort on the island
On-site Gary Player 9-hole golf course: A proper par-33 layout with academy coaching, rare among family-oriented luxury properties
Three-tier youth program (ages 3-17): Separate clubs for kids, tweens, and teens, each with its own dedicated space and activity calendar, keeping every age group genuinely engaged
Exclusive Guerlain Spa partnership: The only hotel Guerlain spa in Mauritius, offering signature treatments and a retail boutique within the resort
One&Only Le Saint Geran occupies a 60-acre private peninsula on the east coast of Mauritius, flanked by the open Indian Ocean on one side and a sheltered turquoise lagoon on the other. Originally opened in 1975 and comprehensively reimagined in 2017, the resort is widely regarded as the island's original grande dame, setting the benchmark for ultra-luxury hospitality in the Indian Ocean. The 142 rooms and suites blur the boundary between indoors and out, with disappearing patio doors, continuous flooring, and island-inspired palettes that invite the landscape inside. Families with space on the agenda will gravitate toward the two- and three-bedroom suites, which combine en-suite bedrooms with generous living areas, or Villa One, a secluded two-bedroom residence with its own infinity pool, private chef, and direct beach access. A newer collection of private-pool villas (two to six bedrooms) rounds out the offering for multi-generational groups seeking complete privacy without sacrificing resort-level service. Nearly two kilometers of pristine sand, three distinct swimming pools, and a full menu of complimentary water sports, from kayaking and water skiing to snorkeling and glass-bottom boat trips, ensure the Mauritius coastline is put to good use every single day.
The family infrastructure here goes well beyond a token play area. The complimentary KidsOnly program caters to children ages 3 to 11 with a purpose-built clubhouse, dedicated splash pool, and a daily schedule built around discovery, local culture, nature walks, and creative workshops. Tweens (8 to 12) and teens (13 to 17) have their own hangout at Club One, with activities ranging from fitness bootcamps and outdoor movie nights to kayak expeditions and bonfire parties. Parents, meanwhile, can disappear guilt-free into the Guerlain Spa (the only hotel Guerlain spa in Mauritius), play padel or tennis at the floodlit courts, or tee off on the Gary Player-designed 9-hole golf course. Dining spans seven distinct venues, including the overwater Tapasake for pan-Asian fusion, Prime for Australian Wagyu steaks, the newly opened RIVA for Italian poolside fare, and La Terrasse for open-kitchen Mauritian and international dishes, all of which offer kids' menus. A personalized 24-hour butler service ties every detail together, from unpacking luggage and arranging beachside sundowners to coordinating private island excursions. It is the kind of place where you arrive planning to explore the island and end up never wanting to leave the peninsula.
