Easter Weekend at Feuerstein Nature Family Resort: A High-End Alpine Retreat That Truly Understands Families
June 8, 2025

We spent our Easter weekend nestled deep in the South Tyrolean Alps at the stunning Feuerstein Nature Family Resort — a luxury hideaway designed entirely around families. This wasn’t just another family hotel; it was an intentional, detail-driven experience that set a new bar for what a high-end holiday with little ones could be. The occasion? Four nights over the Easter weekend, which also happened to be my birthday. And what better place to celebrate with my family than this serene family retreat nestled at the end of the Pflerschtal Valley.
From the moment we arrived, the calmness of the resort surprised me. I had braced for chaos — after all, it’s a family hotel — but instead, we found a spacious and thoughtfully designed haven where everything from bilingual signage (German, English, and Italian) to dual-height stair railings had been considered. With its modern architecture and use of natural materials, the space felt elevated yet grounded in nature. This plus with the thoughtful attention to detail - such as an extra stair handrail for the children and family bathrooms - make Feuerstein an extraordinary hotel for families.

A Family Room That Works for Everyone
We stayed in the “Amethyst” family suite — perfect for our needs. It included a king-size bed for us, a kids’ room with a bunk and single bed (with fall-out protection), a small living area, and a walk-in closet near the entrance where we could even park our stroller. The large balcony was outfitted with cozy seating, and blackout shades ensured great sleep for everyone.
While our 16-month-old didn’t use the bunk beds, we squeezed in the hotel travel crib to keep both boys together. The room was safe for children and many of power outlets had safety covers, but not all — something to be aware of. The hotel also provided a changing pad and diaper bin for us upon arrival.
The bathroom had no tub, but like on our last vacation, our two-year-old loved the big walk-in shower. The hotel provided children’s soap alongside local adult bath products. My only gripe: no conditioner! I know this is common in European hotels, but my American self missed it dearly.
Other family-friendly touches at the hotel:
A mini fridge, perfect for milk (or wine ;))
Diaper bins and changing pads in public spaces
Kids-height juice fountains in the dining room
Dual-height handrails and generously sized elevators
Buggies available to borrow
Optional turndown service via the hotel app
A baby monitor (WiFi and non-WiFi options)

Childcare That Actually Feels Easy
This was our first time using a baby club, and Feuerstein made it seamless as possible. If you dropped-off before 10 AM, you could use the hour for some gentle settling-in time, while later arrivals meant a quick goodbye. Upon first stay, you filled out an age specific form for the staff noting things like allergies, nap needs, potty training status, etc. We left our toddlers for a few hours each morning and even used the supervised dinner service one evening, which gave us time to enjoy a meal together, go on a short hike, or play Padel tennis.
The facilities were stunning: a real-life dollhouse, indoor driving track, and dedicated lockers where we could stash all our little guys' essentials. Activities like crafting were organized daily, and the caregivers were warm, attentive, and clearly passionate. Even outside the club, we’d bump into the staff leading other activities—and they always remembered our boys' names. It felt personal in the best way.

All-Day Fun for Every Age
Feuerstein’s activity lineup is seriously impressive. There are age-appropriate clubs for babies, toddlers, children, and teens, but in our opinion, it’s a paradise for kids under ten. Our toddler adored the pony rides (which are offered several times daily, many for free), and children went wild over Ninja Warrior-style course and game room. I also cannot go without mentioning the indoor mud room, truly SUCH a cool amenity. They even provide the rain paints and boots, as well as a shower to rinse off afterwards.
Easter weekend added even more magic—think: egg-dyeing, family art classes, and a personalized Easter egg hunt with a hidden nest just for your child. The resort web app helps you manage bookings for things like the woodworking studio or art lab. Some activities definitely fill up fast, but if you really want to do something I would just stop by and see if there's space as there appeared to be lots of no-shows. And if you just want to roam, there’s a massive indoor play barn, an outdoor adventure playground, a short nature walk to the barn, and plenty of cozy corners for quiet time.
Adults aren’t forgotten either. My husband and I booked the indoor padel court twice and loved the private wine tasting with the sommelier—both were great value.
While they offer a teen club and activities for older kids, I’d say the resort is best geared for families with children under 10. That said, we met families with teenagers who were off skiing, hiking, or mountain biking.

Dining That’s Equal Parts Gourmet and Kid-Friendly
The hotel runs on a full-board basis, and meals are genuinely something to look forward to — particularly the five-course dinners. At breakfast and dinner, we had an assigned table with a view of the mountain waterfall, and the same wonderful waitress (shoutout to Danielle) made us feel welcome every evening.
How we made it work:
Breakfast from 8am: buffet with local dairy and produce (Sterzing yoghurts, fresh egg dishes)
Lunch/snack buffet: more casual, with pasta and salads
Dinner: five courses for adults and a three-course kids’ menu
It took a couple days to figure out our dinner system, but finally found one that suited our family. Our trick? Eat two courses with the boys, put them to bed, then return to finish dinner while monitoring them via the baby cam. It felt like having two meals in one — family and date night.
Other dining perks:
Cocktail of the day (loved the margarita)
Extensive wine list (hi Marco!)
Sparkling juice fountains for kids at child height
Ice cream station and abundant desserts
Two of the four nights the hotel hosted a complimentary happy hour and appetizers — a fun way to meet other guests
The only downside? Drinks at the bar cost extra and aren’t cheap. But we appreciated how accommodating the staff were with our kids’ needs — even cleaning and refilling milk bottles daily, and eventually gifting us a full carton to store in our room fridge.

Splash Time and Spa Moments
The pool area was a hit with everyone. Mornings were quiet, making it the perfect time for a dip in the indoor/outdoor pools or some fun on the water slides (including a timed racing slide). The baby splash pool was never too busy, and loungers were plentiful.
While we didn’t make it to the adults-only rooftop spa (next time!), I did manage to squeeze in two excellent massages at the spa.

Nature, Wellness & Valley Views
Feuerstein is at the very end of Pflerschtal Valley, surrounded by pure nature. The entire valley feels like an extension of the hotel — you don’t see many outsiders, just guests enjoying the space. You don’t even need to leave the hotel grounds to go for a hike—trails begin right outside the front door, and baby carriers are available to borrow. Though rain kept us indoors most of the time, the underground tunnels connecting all buildings meant we stayed dry while still exploring. In warmer weather, we’d love to return for a hut hike or try the hotel’s bikes.
For winter stays, there’s a bunny slope and shuttle to the nearby lifts. We drove from Munich in just under three hours, while many British families we met had flown into Innsbruck and arranged airport transfers through the hotel.

Service with a (Multilingual) Smile
Feuerstein attracts guests from Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and the UK, and nearly all staff speak two out of the three main languages: German, English, and Italian. Whether it was remembering our kids’ names at activities or helping my husband plan a surprise photo shoot for my birthday, they went above and beyond. Our family photoshoot with Emagine Foto captured moments we'll treasure forever.
The staff also knew how to navigate the thoughtful balance between family time and parent relaxation. The activity calendar offered multiple sessions so you could find a time that best suited your family, while also leaving plenty of time to just be present and soak in the surrounding nature.

Pricing & Value
Feuerstein is undoubtedly on the higher end — and holiday weekends like Easter don’t come cheap. But for families who plan to fully take advantage of the facilities, the value is excellent.
Meals are included, as is childcare and most activities. Extras like horseback riding, alcoholic drinks, massages, and padel court reservations come at an additional cost, but were well worth it in our experience.
Final Thoughts
Feuerstein isn’t just a hotel—it’s an experience. Despite the rain and the holiday rush, we came away completely refreshed, full of memories, and already dreaming about a return visit (maybe next time in ski season).
From the serene setting to the cleverly designed play zones, from thoughtful childcare to sophisticated dining—it’s a place where every family member finds their moment of joy. If you’re looking for a luxurious, all-weather, kid-first resort with grown-up perks too, Feuerstein Nature Family Resort should be at the very top of your list.
