Boat-only private island (6 hectares): The resort sits on its own island in Bacuit Bay, accessible only by boat, creating a contained world where kids can roam safely between beach, pool, and forest trail
Inter-island beach club access: Free boat transfers give guests exclusive access to sister resort Miniloc and private beach clubs at Entalula and Dibuluan islands, effectively expanding the playground beyond one property
Guided eco-tours and resident nature program: Complimentary trips to Cathedral Cave, Cudugnon Cave, and the Big and Small Lagoons, plus an eco-checklist for kids to log wildlife sightings during their stay
On-site nurse: A resident nurse and doctor on call adds a meaningful layer of reassurance for families traveling to a remote island
Set on a six-hectare private island in Palawan's Bacuit Bay, Lagen Island Resort reopened in January 2026 after a 12-month transformation by WATG and Wimberly Interiors. The new property is intentionally smaller, just 42 keys split between Water Villas perched above a calm lagoon and Forest Rooms and Suites tucked against towering limestone cliffs. Reclaimed nara wood, woven rattan, and locally crafted ceramics carry through the interiors, giving the resort a quiet, deeply Filipino sense of place. As a family beach resort in the Philippines, Lagen suits parents who want a genuine island escape without sacrificing comfort, and it works particularly well for families ready to trade pool decks for snorkeling, kayaking, and island-hopping in one of Southeast Asia's most cinematic seascapes.
For families, the appeal is logistical as much as scenic. The resort is reachable only by boat, which removes day-trippers and creates a contained world where children can roam between the beach, the pool, and the forest trail without the usual parental headcounts. A kids activity center handles arts and crafts, coconut-hat making, films, and games, while complimentary non-motorized water sports including kayaking, snorkeling, windsurfing, and Hobie Cat sailing keep older children and teenagers occupied. Guided eco-tours to nearby caves and the famed Big and Small Lagoons run daily, and free boat transfers connect Lagen to sister resort Miniloc and to private beach clubs on Entalula and Dibuluan islands, giving families an easy way to break up longer stays. Dining is centered on the reimagined Clubhouse restaurant with sea views and the Boat House lounge beneath the cliffs, with private dining on beaches and sandbars available for milestone occasions. Babysitting is on offer for younger children, and an on-site nurse adds reassurance for parents traveling far from home. With direct beach access from most rooms and an outdoor pool steps from the sand, the rhythm here is unhurried, nature-led, and refreshingly free of fuss.

Getting There
✈️ Airports
Lio Airport, El Nido (ENI): primary access.
AirSWIFT operates direct flights from Manila (NAIA Terminal 4), Cebu, Clark, and Bohol. Flight time from Manila is approximately 75 minutes on a 48 or 72-seat ATR. Puerto Princesa (PPS): alternative gateway with broader domestic and limited international service, followed by a 5 to 6 hour land transfer to El Nido (guests arrange own transport from PPS).
⛴️ Water Transfer
After landing at Lio Airport, guests are met by a resort representative and escorted to the El Nido Resorts Jetty Lounge. A complimentary 30 to 45 minute scheduled boat transfer connects the jetty to Lagen Island. Daily boat schedule includes departures at 8:30 AM, 1 PM, 4 PM, and 5:30 PM from Lio Jetty, and 5 AM, 9:30 AM, 12 noon, and 2 PM from Lagen. Private boat transfers are available outside scheduled times (extra charge), subject to sunset and night navigation restrictions, with last transfer to the resort at 5:30 PM and last return at 4 PM.
Lagen is a boat-access-only private island. The resort recommends booking flights to align with the scheduled jetty transfer times. Guests must be at the Jetty Lounge at least one hour before their scheduled boat. From Manila, factor in the AirSWIFT flight plus the boat transfer when planning arrival.
